Specialty & Focus
I specialize and focus primarily on working with ages 3 years and older, individuals, couples, and families on healing from past emotional wounds, trauma, and co-occurring disorders. I enjoy working with diverse cultures and individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community.
Career & Experience
I started my career as a Professional Addiction Counselor at Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation in St. Paul Minnesota and transferred to work at the Betty Ford Center part of Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation in Rancho Mirage, CA. After a few years I reached my career peak as a Substance Use Counselor and found that I was lacking in my full potential as a clinician to support those struggling with symptoms related to co-occurring disorders. I furthered my education with obtaining a certificate in Gestalt Therapy and Accelerated Resolution Therapy, my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University, and a diploma as a Master Herbalist. I have developed co-occurring treatment programs and curricula. I have supported all age groups with co-occurring group therapy, psychoeducation, individual therapy, and family/couples therapy. In addition, I have educated medical students on the disease of addiction as I guided them through an immersive experience in the group therapy process. As an adjunct professor at the University of Nebraska Omaha I taught on co-occurring disorders and multicultral counseling in the Counseling Department.
